تناقضات عصرنا الحاضر
Today we have bigger houses and smaller
families; more conveniences, but less time;
نملك هذه الأيام منازل أكبر، و أسرّّّ أصغر،
ونملك وسائل راحة أكثر، ووقتنا أقل.
We have more degrees, but less common sense,
more knowledge, but less judgment.
لدينا شهادات أكثر، ومنطق أقل،
ولدينا معرفة أكثر، وحكمة أقل.
We have more experts, but more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.
لدينا خبراء أكثر، و مشاكل أكثر،
ولدينا أدوية أكثر، وعافية أقل.
We spend too recklessly, laugh little,
drive too fast, get to angry too quickly,
stay up too late, get up too tired, read too
little, watch Tv too often, and pray too seldom
اننا ننفق بتدهور، ونضحك قليلا، ونقود سياراتنا بسرعة،
ونغضب بسرعة، ونسهر كثيرا، ونستيقظ منهكين، ونقرا
قليلا، ونشاهد التلفزيون كثيرا، ونادرا ما نصلي.
We have multiplied our possessions, but
reduced our values. We talk too much,
Love too little and lie too often.
لقد ضاعفنا ممتلكاتنا، وقللنا قيمنا.
اننا نتكلم كثيرا، ونحب قليلا،
ونكذب كثيرا جدا.
Weve learned how to make a living,
but not a life, weve added years to life,
not life to years.
لقد تعلمنا كيف نكسب رزقنا، ولم نتعلم كيف نحيا،
لقد أضفنا سنوات الى حياتنا، ولم نضف حياة
الى سنوات عمرنا.
We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers,
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
لدينا مبان أعلى، وطباعا حادة، ولدينا طرقا سريعة
أوسع، ووجهات نظر أضيق.
We spend more, but have less,
we buy more, but enjoy it less.
اننا ننفق أكثر، ونملك أقل،
اننا نشتري أكثر، ونستمتع أقل.
Weve been all the way to the moon and
back, but have trouble crossing the street to
meet the new neighbor.
لقد وصلنا للقمر وعدنا، ولكننا ننزعج من عبور
الشارع لزيارة جار جديد.
Weve conquered outer space, but not inner
space. Weve split the atom, but not our prejudice.
لقد انتصرنا على الفضاء الخارجي، ولم ننتصر على أنفسنا..
لقد شطرنا الذرة، ولم نتغلب على أهوائنا.
We write more, but learn less,
plan more, but accomplish less.
اننا نكتب كثيرا، ونتعلم قليلا،
ونخطط كثيرا، وننجز القليل.
Weve learned to rush, but not to wait, we
have higher incomes, but lower morals.
لقد تعلمنا العجلة، ولم نتعلم الانتظار،
ولدينا دخل أعلى، وأخلاق أدنى.
We built more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies, but have less communication.
We are long on quantity, but short on quality.
اننا نصنع المزيد من أجهزة الكمبيوتر لتحفظ معلومات أكثر،
ولتعطي نسخا أكثر، ولكن الاتصال في ما بيننا أقل.
لدينا فائض في الكمية، ونقص في النوعية.
These are the time of fast foods and slow
digestion; tall men and short character, steep
profits and shallow relationships.
هذه هي أيام الوجبات السريعة والهضم البطيء،
رجال طوال القامة، صغار الشخصية،
أرباح كبيرة وعلاقات ضحلة.
More leisure and less fun, more kinds of food,
but less nutrition, two incomes, but more
divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.
لدينا الكثير من وقت الفراغ، والقليل من المتعة،
لدينا الكثير من أنواع الطعام، والقليل من التغذية.
لدينا دخل عال، وطلاق أعلى،
لدينا منازل فاخرة، وبيوت محطمة.
Thats why I propose, that as of today, you do not
keep anything for a special occasion, because every
day that you live is a special occasion.
لذا فانني أقترح اعتبارا من اليوم ان لا تحتفظ بشيء لمناسبة
خاصة، لأن كل يوم تعيشه هو مناسبة خاصة.
Search for knowledge, read more, sit on
your front porch and admire the new
without paying attention to your needs.
ابحث عن المعرفة، واقرأ كثيرا، واجلس في
شرفة منزلك الأمامية، واستمتع بالمنظر بدون ان
تلتفت الى حاجاتك.
Spend more time with your family and
friends, eat your favorite foods, and visit
the places you love.
اقضي مزيدا من الوقت مع اسرتك وأصدقائك،
وتناول الأطعمة التي تفضلها، وقم بزيارة
الأماكن التي تحبها.
Life is a chain of moment of enjoyment,
not only about survival.
الحياة سلسلة من اللحظات الممتعة،
وليس مجرد البقاء على قيد الحياة.
Use your crystal globets. Do not save your
dest perfume, and use it every time you
feel you want it.
استخدم كوؤس الكريستال التي لديك. ولا
توفر عطرك المفضل واستخدمه في كل وقت
تشعر بالرغبة في استخدامه.
Remove from your vocabulary phrases like
one of these day and someday.
Lets write that letter we thought of writing
one of these days.
احذف من مفرداتك عبارات مثل: "في يوم من هذه الأيام"
وكذلك "يوما ما".
ولنكتب تلك الرسالة التي قكرنا في كتابتها "في
يوم من الأيام".
Lets tell our families and friends how much
we love them. Do not delay anything that
adds laughter and joy to your life.
لنخبر اسرنا وأصدقاءنا عن مقدار حبنا لهم.
ولا تؤجل أي شيء يبعث الضحك والسرور في حياتك.
Every day, every hour, and every minute
is Special.
And you dont know if it will be your last.
ان كل يوم وكل ساعة و كل دقيقة هي شيء مميز،
وانك لا تدري ان كانت أي منها
ستكون الأخيرة في حياتك.
